The KFB Lynches River Adventure Race

 The Adventure Race
First stage of the race is a 5K trail run through Lynches River County Park.   After crossing the checkpoint,

racers will proceed to the boat staging  area where they will be assisted in getting their boats into the river  for the second stage of the race.

A 5 mile paddle down Lynches River.

Individual

The racer must complete the 5k trail run and paddle 5 miles down the river.

Relay Team

the paddler must wait for their  partner who is running to reach them and hand off timing bib before  bringing their boat to the water.

Tandem Team

Each paddler must finish the run portion of the race before bringing their boat to the water.

Fun Float

For those that don't want to run, we offer the option to paddle down the river while racers compete.

The fun float is not timed but includes a t-shirt.

At the end of the 5-mile paddle, there will be a timing boat on the  right side of the river that will record the end time.

Take-out is on the river right just beyond the timing boat and before the bridge.  Volunteers and staff will assist participants with getting their boats out of  the river. Participants will then board a shuttle that will take them back to the  park. A boat shuttle will shuttle boats to the designated pickup area at  the park. All rented boats and equipment will be turned in at the  landing.

The park, trails and landing are open during the event for spectators.

If you do not have a kayak, kayak Rentals will be available through Lynches River County Park and River Rats and must be reserved in advance. Kayak rentals include PFD’s, paddles & whistles.

If a participant rents a kayak, it will be at the race start along with equipment

and  will be picked up from the take-out at the bridge.

All paddlers are required, in accordance with SC State Law, to wear a  personal flotation device at all times throughout the paddle and they  must have a whistle. If any racer is found on the water without their  PFD, they will be disqualified from the race.  Whistles will be included  with each race packet.

Course marshals and emergency personnel will be staged throughout  the trail run and multiple safety boats and agencies will be spread  along the river water in case of an emergency.
